Short Course Proposal

About Short Course Proposals

The ICSA Applied Statistics Symposium customarily offers several short courses on the opening Sunday of the gathering. Courses in the 2025 symposium will be held on Sunday, June 15, in the following three formats:

  • Morning half-day course: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., with a 15-minute break
  • Afternoon half-day course: 1:30 – 5:30 p.m., with a 15-minute break
  • Full-day course: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with a lunch break from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

To propose a course for consideration, you should plan to supply these details on the submission form:

  • course title
  • duration (half-day or full-day)
  • category (e.g., methodology, career development, technology training, etc.)
  • target audience
  • prerequisites for participants
  • computer and software requirements
  • abstract (1500 characters max – a summary of the course for registration )
  • teaching plan (an outline of the course, split into time segments)
    • half-day courses should be planned with a 15-minute break after approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes of teaching
    • full-day courses should be planned with 15-minute breaks in each half, after approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes of teaching

You will also be asked to list all the instructors for the course (up to 4), and to provide the following information for each individual:

  • name
  • email
  • best phone number
  • affiliation
  • address
  • short biography
  • teaching experience (optional)

Registration fees for 2025 short course instructors will be waived. An honorarium of $1,000 (for a half-day course) or $1,500 (for a full-day course) will be offered, to be shared among all the instructors of the course.

The symposium organizers reserve the right to cancel short courses due to low enrollment. The honorarium will not be paid for courses that do not take place.
